The Internet was invented to share resources. Then people started to communicate. And they spread their stuff all over the place. Then we tried to add security. What is next? Will university networks be transformed by studying, gaming, researching, filesharing students into non-secured free-for-all network areas? Is there still a place for universities to deliver services or will they deliver bandwidth and lisenses? As resource location becomes irrelevant, will security domains die out?

Biography

Ingrid Melve is Chief Technology Officer at UNINETT since 2006. She is the manager of Feide, identity management for Norwegian education, and was the main architect for the design of Feide in 2000. From 1998 she was Manager of Applications and Middleware for UNINETT, the Norwegian research network, where she has worked from 1994 in information services. She holds an MSc in Telecommunications from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH).
